TREES
PLANTED IN YOUR HONOR!
|
Why Trees?
Trees Produce
Oxygen
Let's face it,
we could not
exist as we do
if there were no
trees. A mature
leafy tree
produces as much
oxygen in a
season as 10
people inhale in
a year. What
many people
don't realize is
the forest also
acts as a giant
filter that
cleans the air
we breath.
Trees Clean the
Soil
The term
phytoremediation
is a fancy word
for the
absorption of
dangerous
chemicals and
other pollutants
that have
entered the
soil. Trees can
either store
harmful
pollutants or
actually change
the pollutant
into less
harmful forms.
Trees filter
sewage and farm
chemicals,
reduce the
effects of
animal wastes,
clean roadside
spills and clean
water runoff
into streams.
Trees Clean the Air
Trees help cleanse the air by intercepting airborne particles, reducing heat, and absorbing such pollutants as carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide. Trees remove this air pollution by lowering air temperature, through respiration, and by retaining particulates.

In keeping with the spirit
of resource conservation and
"greening" our environment,
we offer a unique and long
lasting way to
honor your wedding at Khimaira Farm! You can
have a tree purchased and
planted here, with a
permanent sign dedicating it
to you and your wedding (see
example above)!
We will have more choices in
the future, and some of the
species available are found
below.
Trees will be planted
throughout the property,
including garden areas and
our growing number of
"greenways" walking paths
being developed. The
price depends on the size
and species of the tree, and
the ones priced below are
generally larger more
established trees.
Go Here for a great
resource of plants (can
search for images and
information). We generally
purchase our trees from
local nurseries. If
you would like to purchase a
tree yourself and bring it
here to plant, please let us
know what species so we can
determine suitability.
All prices below reflect only
the cost of the tree, and we
provide the plaque free.
Perhaps you can return on
your anniversaries to take a
picture and watch it grow!
Or, if you don't purchase
one for your wedding day,
you can always do it later!
It's never too late to plant
a tree!
