We believe our
prices are very reasonable, as
having these areas available entails
a tremendous amount of work year
round. Our goal is to offer a
comfortable, natural and enjoyable
environment for your event, at an
affordable price. We
spend many hours every day
maintaining the gardens and grounds
(many flowers need to be pruned
frequently for best performance...and we
have a large grass areas to maintain!). However,
we do believe in conserving our
natural resources, so the grounds
won't always be looking so neat
between events! We try to
reduce fossil fuel usage and improve
the health of vegetation by allowing
the grass to grow somewhat if an
event is not scheduled, so you might
arrive to visit a lawn looking a bit
overgrown! Be assured that event
time will present a neater
appearance. We work hard to
be good stewards of the land and
practice sustainable methods of
farming and gardening.
We do not have an "estate", we have
a "farm". Our visitors have
described us as "country chic";
"upscale country"; "fun and
comfortable"; "a dream garden
setting"; "the best place for a
wedding"! We're happy to have
received so many wonderful comments
about what we have to share with our
visitors, and it is very satisfying
to know that others enjoy our farm
and appreciate the work it takes!
We try to keep our gardens neat, but
they aren't immaculate. The
gardens won't be 'weed free' as we
feel a mix of natural grasses and
wildflowers is OK! Mother
nature keeps trying to make them a
meadow!
Our facility will be clean and neat,
but things are not perfect and
uniform. We celebrate
diversity - of many things.
With so many recycled things around,
it's an eclectic collection. If you
need total uniformity for things
such as seating, we aren't the best
venue for you. However, if you
share our concerns for resource
conservation, share our thoughts of
observing and enjoying nature, while
also appreciating a few amenities
such as an optional comfortable indoor location
with kitchen and bathroom
facilities, then you might want to
take a visit to see what we have to
offer! But, a forewarning...99.99%
of all potential clients who visit
us have selected Khimaira Farm
as the venue for their wedding after
they visit!
Ongoing maintenance of facilities
requires regular attention and
expense, and we're always looking
for ways to make improvements and
utilize recycled materials from many
sources. Despite these year
round costs, we also want to offer
our clients and friends an
alternative for the high prices of
more "traditional" facilities.
We do our best to keep our prices
low and protect our environment by using recycled and recyclable
products whenever possible. We
also avoid the use of dangerous
chemicals and use natural pest
controls. We have been
practicing organic farming and
sustainable agriculture since we
purchased the farm in 1978! We
encourage you to consider "green"
weddings and events and can help you
locate supplies that enable you to
do so!
We are also working on some
'sponsorship' opportunities!
This idea came to us after a very
kind young couple made a generous
donation towards the construction of
new bathrooms for the barn. We
had planned to add them later in
2008, but it
would have been after their wedding
planned for September 2008.
They had looked at the pricing for
rentals of
restroom trailer units, and then
contacted us. They told us
they would prefer to provide funding
to us to help us complete new
bathrooms, and thus helping us and
our future guests. It was such
a thoughtful and caring gesture, and
we are most appreciative! We
began construction and are
completing construction now (they
are functioning and the rooms just
need final trim and painting!).
They suggested we contact other
couples to see if they were willing
to do something similar. We
are working on some options!

Since
we operate
a working farm, we have a
variety of animals such as our
goats, chickens, cats and dogs in
residence! Folks often want an
additional tour of our other
facilities. We will work with
you for these arrangements if you
want that option as well.
